About Us

Nothing irritates me more than having to change my cutting plates after only a few weeks of use. The Mat is designed to replace one of your plastic cutting plates, specifically the one that is sliced into. It's made of a recyclable, self-healing material that can be sliced into repeatedly with blades and cutting tools. So, can you guess what this means? You can avoid warped cutting plates, deep etchings, markings, and scratches on your work.

To make the background for my card, I placed this onto another piece of paper from the same paper pad. Before glueing the layers together, I stamped the base layer with the script stamp from Tim Holtz's Entomology Stamp Set and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also lightly sanded the top die cut layer to show some of the paper's white core, giving texture and interest to the card.

Another advantage of The Mat is that it is compatible with Sizzix Bigz Dies. Simply replace the bottom cutting plate and feed the Bigz Die through your die cutting machine once more. I die cut papers from the Boho A2 Paper Pad with the Tim Holtz Tattered Butterfly. After die cutting the design, I used Distress Oxide in Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Gathered Twigs, and Aged Mahogany to stamp it. I used Tim Holtz Correspondence Stamp Set stamps. I softly wiped over the still-wet ink after stamping each picture to smear it slightly.

I used a Silicone Cutting Pad on top of The Mat this time and ran it through my die cutting machine. You may need to do some study to determine the suitable sandwich for your die cutting machine, but you can emboss with any metal die, and The Magic MatTM is the ideal tool for this technique once again.
